Hans Smith has been working for the Church of Scientology for 24 years. His duties have taken him to continents and countries around the world and he has met thousands of people. But he has experienced only one instance of physical violence from another person—Mike Rinder. Smith states: He’s the only person in the last 24 years that I’ve been on staff who’s punched me. He punched me in the chest once, he punched me so hard I had a tag and he broke the tag in half.”
In relation to Mike Rinder, I can say one thing which is, I’ve been working for the Church of Scientology for 24 years and in those 24 years I’ve worked in a lot of places. I’ve worked in England, I’ve worked in Europe, I’ve worked in Australia, I’ve worked in Asia, I’ve worked here in the United States, and I’ve met a lot of people, like thousands and thousands of people. And he’s the only person in the last 24 years that I’ve been on staff who’s punched me. He actually punched me in the chest once. Actually, he punched me so hard, I had a tag on and he broke the tag in half. And that was—to me that’s just the kind of person he is, just kind of an aggressive guy who honestly wasn’t very popular. So that’s just my personal experience with Mike Rinder.
He was just an unpleasant person. He wasn’t somebody who was like “Oh, he’s a good friend of mine.” He never was friends with a lot of people because he just was, you know, an unpleasant person. I could say other words, but there are ladies and children who may watch this so should’t say them. But, yeah. He was a…he was a jerk. That’s how I would describe him.
